Mourning the Departed, Honoring the Brave—FIBRPRO® Shares Hong Kong’s Storms
On November 26, the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong, shook the entire city. This disaster, which raged for dozens of hours, has so far claimed 128 lives, with approximately 200 people still unaccounted for. Numerous firefighters bravely sustained injuries, and Comrade Ho Wai-ho of the Sha Tin Fire Station tragically lost his life in the line of duty. As a group enterprise headquartered in Hong Kong, China, FIBRPRO® has always been rooted in Hong Kong, contributing to its development, and shares the profound sorrow of all citizens. We hereby express our deepest condolences to the victims, and extend our sincere care to the injured and their families.
Fire is merciless, but humanity is compassionate. According to Xinhua News Agency, the blaze ignited first in the lower-level fencing, swiftly spreading to foam panels and engulfing surrounding buildings. Confronting the raging inferno, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department rapidly deployed 391 fire engines, 185 ambulances, and 2,311 firefighters and paramedics who braved the flames. They fought continuously until 10:18 a.m. on the 28th, successfully extinguishing the fire and completing rescue operations. We honor the sacrifice of Comrade Ho Wai-ho and pay tribute to the fearless spirit of all rescue personnel.
The safety hazards exposed by this fire serve as a stark warning. FIBRPRO® calls on all sectors of society to enhance fire prevention awareness, select qualified, compliant, and reputable materials, and support the government’s subsequent safety inspections and reconstruction efforts. We will actively fulfill our social responsibilities, provide necessary support to our fellow citizens affected by the disaster, and stand with Hong Kong in overcoming this challenge.
